Imagine a world set back in the past, where African American people were not treated properly and were forced to become slaves. This was the world that Frederick Douglass lived in. Back then, Africans were brought from Africa to the United States of America and forced to work as slaves on plantations. A slave is nothing more than an unpaid servant. Slave labor was important to the plantation economy because it allowed the plantations to be very profitable. Even when the United States of America abolished slavery there was still illegal slave trade. There was also women that where mistreated by not allowing certain rights for women like not allowing them to vote. However, everything changed when Frederick Douglass stood up for the fair treatment of slaves and women suffrage.
